The Australian Press Council is responsible for promoting high standards of media practice, community access to information of public interest and freedom of expression through the media. It also sets standards and responds to complaints about material in Australian newspapers and magazines, as well as a growing number of online-only publications.
In an era of dynamic change with challenges and opportunities facing the media industry, the Australian Press Council must adapt to the changing environment, uphold contemporary public expectations for high standards of practice whilst proactively responding to changes in the regulatory and policy landscape both domestically and internationally.
The Australian Press Council is now seeking a dynamic and progressive Chief Executive Officer to provide leadership, strategic management and vision. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced leader willing to embrace the changing and complex nature of print and digital media. This role will be critical in developing and delivering a sustainable future strategy for the Australian Press Council, which brings a diversity of thought and an appreciation of contemporary social issues and community expectations.
